I'm on tenure track, wheeeeee!

So today, I decide to do a bit of vanity Googling and see what Google throws up. (hey I'd justify it by saying that it's better to be foreprepared anytime!)

And I note a few references to some business professor of the same name somewhere, and I'm like, who cares. That was around lunch.

Just a short fifteen minutes ago though, this arrived in the Gmail inbox:

Dear Lan Yingjie,

I am writing on behalf of an international publishing house, Lambert Academic Publishing.

In the course of a research on the University of Maryland, I came across a reference to your thesis on "ROBUST REVENUE MANAGEMENT WITH LIMITED INFORMATION : THEORY AND EXPERIMENTS".
We are an international publisher whose aim is to make academic research available to a wider audience.
LAP would be especially interested in publishing your dissertation in the form of a printed book.

Your reply including an e-mail address to which I can send an e-mail with further information in an attachment
will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

And it appears the paper is question is located here. You can even rate me (or actually, my doppelganger) at CampusBuddy.

So, all you business undergrads struggling out there, you can drop me a call. I'll try channel some of the Maryland guy's brains over the Pacific :P.

Edit: dnwq insists my Google-fu is not strong. He has unearthed the email address and the resume of the REAL guy. The only thing I admit to writing though (yes, thank you, oliviachee), is this.

All of these though, are better than the other Yingjie Lan, abusive Public Security Bureau Associate Chief.

Summed up nicely, "so you're either an abusive public officer or a nerdy grad student". Darn.

The strange things we unearth about ourselves, eh. Unfortunately the only exciting thing that has ever happened to me was discovering a comment I never made [or rather if I did I don't remember - hell, I don't even remember ever attending such a programme] being credited to me.

Time flies. It's been 4 years since they abused the name :P

Google believes I'm missing a letter in my name. And apparently my name's spelling isn't as common as I thought, they keep trowing 's' or 'e' in. About the only thing I can turn up with my actual name is my participation in a competition. Or a girl in Malaysia with both my first an last names in her name. Hmm.

Uh, I didn't. I just informed him that I wasn't the guy in question.
