Today, I was dancing up and down when I checked my email. I booked out at about noon, then spent half an hour trekking around Kaki Bukit in the rain because the bus stop is so horribly far from the driving centre and it was raining!

Dear LAN YINGJIE,

Congratulations! We are pleased to offer you a place in the University Scholars Programme (USP) at NUS.

I was jumping up and down because I finally got it! Plus quite a few other people I know are are heading there (provided they still go NUS after all, like Wee Lic). So yes, while a lot of people are flying overseas, uni won't be so lonely after all! :D

...

In other news, driving is turning out to be a bitch in terms of the environment. And my aptitude for driving is...questionable. I'm finding it a bit of an information overload.

It's alright, they say you can always apply in after a current USP student recommends you in. Which means you can always reapply (and then don't botch your interview again!) :).

:D. It's not available to pharmacy I think, since you guys have schedules that even they can't try fit in. And yes two years my senior x.x.

It's apparently available to Pharmacy students, except that they have to do an extra year or something. I remember people writing on the Pharmaceutical Society tagboard that there are Pharmacy students in USP.

I can't imagine which person would want to! 5 years in university's terribly long, you might as well be a doctor!

You'll be surprised! There are people who opt for the NUS Overseas College thing even though they're in Pharmacy, so they end up doing a 5-year course. If it were me, I'd just run off to do my PhD already. But of course some people don't exactly want to do any further studies.

>.<. I'm amazed. This is just another reason to do life sciences and scoot off with all these things and still probably under 4 years with honours. Pharmacy's...terribly long!

Well, 4 years is pretty much standard these days, it's just that you don't quite have the option of getting out with less than that. But I'm not exactly in a rush to get out of university any way. (Besides, my backup plan was a double degree in SMU, which would have been 5 freaking years)

[info]lanyingjie

I would only do that if they offered me my dream law+life sciences. 5 years but oh wells, survivable. Anything else is a bit irritating, because I'm still planning to further my studies and the extra time would delay it!

[info]xue_lee

But I've heard people telling me that Law + Life Sciences is actually a waste of time. Then again, you're interested in both so it's probably good for you. I've got a friend doing that so, well, we'll see. XD

I'm pretty much prepared to dump one of my degrees into dusty oblivion after I graduate anyway. But yeah, it's all for pure interest's sake, so it's alright with me!
